Safer public transport seats could save lives in fires
Foams used in public transport seats can be flammable, posing a safety risk during fires. Scientists compared the structure of flammable and non-flammable foams using CT scans. They found differences in the internal structure due to how the foams are made. CT scans provide a 3D view without damaging the material. This study shows that non-flammable foams have a different structure than flammable ones, which can help improve safety in public transport.
