Flood-Proof Cities: Low-Cost Green Infrastructure Slashes Runoff, Boosts Water Savings
The study looked at how using eco-friendly methods can help manage stormwater in cities more effectively and affordably. By comparing a green technique called LID with traditional methods in a new urban area in Korea, researchers saw positive changes. The LID method reduced floods and pollution better than the regular way of development. It also boosted water balance by decreasing runoff and increasing evapotranspiration. Plus, it cut costs by about 9%. So, using LID for stormwater control is not only good for the environment but also saves money in building projects.
