A new soil moisture sensor, SKU:SEN0193, was calibrated for measuring soil humidity. The sensor, designed as a capacitance type, showed good performance in sandy loam soil. It was connected to an Arduino microcontroller and LCD for data collection. The sensor readings were not affected by soil volume or temperature, but slightly influenced by environmental temperature. A direct relationship was found between soil moisture content and sensor response, indicating the sensor can accurately measure moisture in sandy clay soil.
