The telecommunications industry in China has been rapidly growing and improving technologically. A study looked at data from 2011 to 2015 to see how productivity changed in this industry. They found that productivity increased by 22.9% each year, mainly because of technological advancements. Efficiency didn't change much. Areas with lower development levels had more room to improve productivity through technology. Productivity and technology progress were higher in the later years of the study.
