Databases Empowered to Automate Decisions, Transforming Organizations Worldwide.
The article introduces a new way to design applications using active database technology. It focuses on incorporating active behavior into database systems at a conceptual level. The researchers extended the traditional ER model to include events and rules for active database behavior. They also developed a language to express these concepts in the schema. The methodology proposed in the article outlines how to design active databases based on the ER model, including translating active behavior into triggers or event alerters in database management systems. Additionally, a graphical tool was created to map the ER model to the logical schema of the target database.
