Traditional grazing best for restoring alpine grasslands on Qinghai‐Tibet Plateau.
The study looked at different ways to manage grazing in alpine grasslands on the Qinghai‐Tibet Plateau in China. They tested a program that excluded grazing and rotational grazing, but found that traditional continuous grazing at a light stocking rate was the best way to manage livestock and grasslands in the region. The researchers also found that factors like precipitation and temperature had a bigger impact on the grasslands than grazing practices. Overall, the study suggests that combining traditional knowledge with government guidelines can help improve grazing management in alpine meadows.
