Outgroup Helping Boosts Humanity Perception, Ingroup Fails to Humanize
The research looked at how helping actions between different groups affect how we see others. They found that when one group helps another, it can make the group being helped seem more human. In these studies, hearing about an outside group helping after a disaster made people see them as more human-like. However, when it was the same group offering help, it didn't have the same effect. The findings showed that helping actions from outgroups can reduce negative views of them, while help from the same group doesn't have the same impact. This suggests that showing kindness across group lines may help people see each other in a more positive and human way.
