The study observed the respiration rates of calf-fed Holstein steers in high temperatures. They found that as the temperature increased, the respiration rates of the steers also increased, but there was a lot of variation among individual animals. The researchers concluded that respiration rate alone may not be a reliable indicator of animal comfort based on growth performance.
