Population growth in Nigeria leads to drastic changes in land use.
The study looked at changes in land use in Hong Local Government Area, Nigeria, from 1976 to 2009. Using GIS and remote sensing techniques, researchers found that as the population increased, there were shifts in agricultural land, built-up areas, vegetation cover, and water bodies. The results suggest a connection between population growth and changes in land use, highlighting the importance of planning to protect natural resources like vegetation and water bodies.
