Soil salinity threatens vegetation growth in Northwestern China's Ejina Oasis.
Soil salinity in the Ejina Oasis in Northwestern China was studied using vegetation cover data from 1998 to 2015. The researchers found that soil salinity varied greatly across different depths, with a plaque-like distribution pattern. The areas of salinised soil in 2003, 2011, and 2015 were around 18,565, 23,206, and 17,721 km2, respectively. Soil moisture content was identified as the main factor limiting vegetation growth in the area.
