China's Innovation Clusters Drive Economic Growth and Regional Development.
The article discusses regional innovation in China, focusing on evaluating innovation in different provinces. Three main innovation clusters have been identified: the Bohai Rim, the Yangtze River Delta, and the Pearl River Delta. Central and western regions have also established special innovation zones. Government and market play key roles in allocating resources for Science and Technology (S&T). Innovation capability is linked to income levels, S&T accumulation, and government support. Eastern regions generally have higher R&D intensity than central and western regions, with central regions falling in between.
