South-to-North Water Transfer Project Safely Reduces Overexploited Groundwater Levels
The South-to-North Water Transfer Project helps North China's economy and society. The middle route has been running safely for three years, supplying a lot of water. It also protects groundwater in the receiving areas. By June 2018, over 1.4×10^10 m3 of water was given to the regions, including environmental water. The project reduces overexploited groundwater in urban areas, stopping the decline of groundwater levels.
