Minimum Wage Reforms Could Undermine Union Power and Membership
Labor unions and left/labor parties support minimum wage laws in countries where unions are weak. Minimum wage can help unions by setting a higher base wage and increasing costs for nonunion companies. But it can also cause problems like setting wages too high or low. Unions are more likely to back minimum wage laws when they can't negotiate high wages on their own. This is seen in countries like the US and UK.
