Montane forest study reveals rich biodiversity and vegetation patterns in Cameroon.
A study was conducted in a tropical forest in Cameroon to understand the different types of plants and trees living there. Researchers looked at 25 plots of land at different heights, from 50 meters to 1778 meters. They found a total of 16,761 trees, shrubs, and vines, belonging to 71 families and 279 genera. The forest had different areas with unique plant species and structures, ranging from lowland rainforest to montane cloud forest. The study showed that the elevation of the land played a big role in determining what kinds of plants grew there. This information can help in managing and protecting this forest and others like it.
