Revolutionizing Sanitation in Rural Zambia: Affordable Toilets for All
A project in rural Zambia aimed to improve sanitation by training local artisans to build affordable, durable toilets using materials available in the area. The goal was to reach more people in sandy or waterlogged areas where traditional toilets may not last long. By focusing on low-cost designs and avoiding expensive mass-produced products, the project trained nearly 300 entrepreneurs who have sold over 1,300 toilets to households and institutions.
