Gender wage gap widens in Vietnam, driven by discrimination for low-wage workers.
The article looks at wages and the pay gap between men and women in Vietnam from 1993 to 2008. The study found that the gender wage gap slightly increased from 2002 to 2008, mainly because low-wage workers saw a bigger gap. Gender discrimination plays a big role in the wage gap, with discrimination decreasing for high-wage workers but increasing for low-wage workers. The growth in wages during this time was partly due to changes in worker characteristics, but mostly because wages were going up.
