The study looked at how shading on windows of traditional Chinese houses affects indoor comfort. They created equations to calculate shading areas for different building orientations. By analyzing a case study in a traditional village, they found that eaves and corridors play a big role in blocking sunlight. Shading ratios decrease from summer to autumn, then increase from winter to summer in a yearly cycle.
