Coastal foredunes are influenced by both ocean and wind forces. A new model called Windsurf was created to study how these forces interact and affect coastal landscapes. By using this model on a coastal area in Washington, USA, researchers found that marine and aeolian processes play a significant role in shaping coastal foredunes. The model accurately predicted seasonal changes in beach and dune formations, showing that environmental factors directly impact coastal evolution. This study highlights the complex relationship between the ocean and wind in shaping coastal landscapes.
