Optimal grazing times determined for rangelands to prevent degradation and erosion.
In Iran's rangelands, managing when livestock should graze is crucial. A study in Goorab rangeland found that for Bromus tomentellus plants, the best time for livestock to enter is April 30th and exit is May 31st. This was based on observing plant growth stages over four years, including wet conditions in 2007 and severe droughts in 2008. By timing livestock grazing properly, the rangeland can be better managed to prevent overgrazing and improve forage production.
