Plant evenness affects how plant diversity impacts soil bacterial diversity. Researchers studied this by manipulating plant richness and evenness in two locations. They found that bacterial diversity was more closely linked to plant diversity in evenly distributed plant communities. In non-even plant communities, this relationship was weaker. This shows that plant evenness can influence the relationship between aboveground and belowground biodiversity.
