Fierce Competition Boosts Innovation, but Too Much Stifles Progress in Wind Energy
Competition in the wind energy industry significantly affects innovation and success. By analyzing data from wind energy patents between 2005 and 2014, researchers discovered that organizations' competition networks impact their competitive abilities and innovation. As technology elements and organizations grew before 2011 and decreased after, certain elements and organizations experienced sudden growth. Only 10% of organizations improve their competitive positions yearly in the competitive wind energy domain. The density of competition in networks helps firms become more technologically competitive and innovative, while competition strength follows an inverted-U relationship with these outcomes.
