The article analyzes if Poland's fiscal policy was sustainable from 2004 to 2017 after joining the EU. Unlike previous studies, this one looks at strong measures of fiscal sustainability. By estimating individual fiscal reaction functions, the researchers get a more accurate view of Poland's fiscal policy outcomes. Despite some fiscal challenges during the global crisis, the analysis suggests that Poland's fiscal policy was sustainable in the strong sense until 2017.
