Conventional tillage boosts maize yield and profits, study finds.
The study looked at how different ways of preparing the soil (tillage practices) affect the growth and yield of maize plants. They tested three methods: traditional plowing, less intense plowing, and no plowing at all. The results showed that traditional plowing gave the tallest plants, heaviest cobs, and highest yields. It also brought in the most profit. However, the method with less intense plowing had the best return on investment. So, if you want the most maize and money, traditional plowing is the way to go.
