China's Suburbs Booming as Rural Migrants Flock to Big Cities
Urban areas in China, like Beijing and Shanghai, are seeing more people moving to the suburbs. A study used maps and migration patterns to show that the population in big Chinese cities is spreading out. People are moving from the city center to inner suburbs, and from rural areas to outer suburbs. This is different from how suburbs grow in Western countries. The cities are getting bigger, and more people are living in the suburbs, especially in areas near the city center and government districts.
