Revolutionary Charcoal Wetlands Transform Aquaculture Wastewater into Clean Irrigation Source
Aquaculture wastewater was treated using a charcoal-based constructed wetland. The wetland removed 50% of solid particles, 88% of organic matter, 93% of pollutants, and all nitrate nitrogen from the water. The pH and oxygen levels of the water improved after treatment. This method shows promise for cleaning aquaculture wastewater and helping to solve water scarcity issues in agriculture.
