Rainfall patterns and land use shape runoff and soil erosion in China's Loess Plateau
The study looked at how different types of land and lengths of plots affect runoff and soil loss in the Loess Plateau of China. They measured runoff and soil loss in forest, shrub, and grass plots of different lengths during rain events from 2008 to 2016. The results showed that grass had the highest runoff and soil loss, followed by forest and shrub. Rainfall patterns also played a big role, with different regimes affecting runoff and soil loss in various ways. Overall, longer plots led to less runoff and soil loss.
