New model accurately predicts floods, improving disaster preparedness in Ardabil.
The researchers calibrated a hydrological model to estimate flood runoff in the Neir basin. They used the HEC-HMS model with the curve number and SCS unit hydrograph methods. By adjusting key parameters based on local soil, land use, and vegetation data, they improved the model's accuracy. The calibration significantly reduced errors in peak discharge and flow estimation, showing the model's effectiveness in predicting runoff in the Neir chay basin.
