Construction industry's carbon footprint surprisingly comparable for low-energy and standard homes, challenging green building incentives.
This article examines how the construction industry impacts the environment by calculating the carbon footprint during house production, focusing on material requirements for low-energy and standard designs. The main goal is to determine the environmental impact of building houses. The study found that both low-energy and standard houses have similar carbon footprints during production, suggesting a lack of motivation to construct more eco-friendly buildings. They determined that carbon dioxide emissions play a significant role in the environmental impact of constructing houses, highlighting the importance of considering sustainability in construction processes.
