Rice-chickpea cropping system boosts soil quality in Chhattisgarh's Vertisols.
Fields with rice-based cropping systems in Chhattisgarh's central plains were studied to compare soil quality indicators under rice-wheat and rice-chickpea rotations. The study found that soil properties like physical, chemical, and biological factors varied significantly between the two cropping systems. The results showed that the rice-chickpea system had better soil quality indicators compared to the rice-wheat system.
