Sewage sludge can be a useful soil amendment to improve soil quality for plants. By mixing dried leaves and lime powder with sewage sludge, heavy metal levels in the sludge can be reduced. The best mixing ratio found was 1 part sludge to 4 parts dried leaves. This method could help manage the increasing volume of sewage sludge in Malaysia more effectively and sustainably.
