Burning coal slurry could power cities with less fuel waste
The combustion of coal water slurry (CWS) is a technology developed in the 1980s to burn suspended fuels efficiently. China is a major user of CWS. Ongoing research aims to improve the combustion of these fuels by enhancing their properties. The type and quality of coal used in CWS production determine its purpose. Using coal sludge allows for burning it in pulverized boilers, while using higher quality coal creates a slurry for operating power units with reduced technical requirements.
