Organic residues boost wheat yield significantly under zero tillage operations.
A study was done to see how different organic materials and tillage methods affect wheat yield. They tested various combinations of nutrients, paddy straw, and farm yard manure on wheat crops. The best results were seen when using a mix of paddy straw, farm yard manure, and nutrients, with higher grain and straw yields. Both conventional tillage and zero tillage methods showed improved wheat yields with the use of organic and inorganic inputs. The uptake of nutrients by the wheat plants was also better with the organic materials.
