Invasive plant species team up to reduce harm on native flora.
Invasive plants like Persian walnut and goldenrod can harm native plant diversity. When goldenrod invades alone, it reduces native species more than walnut alone. But when both invade together, walnut dominates and decreases goldenrod, leading to less impact on native plants overall. This study shows that having multiple invasive species can actually lessen the negative effects on native plant diversity, rather than making them worse.
