The article presents a method for improving building facades to be more energy efficient and comfortable. The researchers analyzed different functions of facades, like providing daylight and managing solar gain, to create a plan for retrofitting buildings. They used simulations to optimize control strategies for the new facades. The study showed that the retrofitted facades met the design requirements for both residential and office buildings in Bilbao, Spain.
