Bispecific cover crop mixtures boost soil health and crop yields!
Cover crops like crucifers and legumes can help reduce pollution and improve soil health. By combining these two types of cover crops, researchers found that they can provide benefits like catching nitrogen and sulfur in the soil and increasing nitrogen for the main cash crop. The mixtures also maintained the same levels of disease-fighting compounds as the individual crops, even with fewer crucifers in the mix. This study shows that using a mix of crucifers and legumes can be a good way to get multiple benefits for the soil and crops.
