Optimal soil composition boosts tea plant growth and nutrient absorption.
The study looked at how different levels of calcium, potassium, and magnesium in soil affect the growth and nutrient absorption of tea plants. They found that tea seedlings grew best in soil with 25% calcium, 10% potassium, and 5% magnesium. Too much calcium in the soil can harm the plants. Increasing potassium levels in soil with moderate calcium levels improved growth. Tea plants absorbed more nitrogen and phosphorus in soil with optimal calcium, potassium, and magnesium levels. Increasing calcium levels in soil increased calcium absorption by tea plants but decreased magnesium and manganese levels. Increasing potassium levels increased potassium absorption but decreased calcium and magnesium levels. Overall, the study shows that the right balance of these nutrients in soil is crucial for the healthy growth of tea plants.
