New posturography device provides accurate assessment of posture control.
A study compared two devices used to measure posture control in 24 healthy people. The results showed that the Interactive Balance System (IBS) is a valid tool for assessing postural outcomes. The IBS and the Kistler platform had similar measurements for center of pressure fluctuations in different standing conditions. The path length results of both devices were highly correlated, with the Kistler platform's stability index closely matching the IBS's anterior-posterior trajectory. This means that the IBS can accurately measure postural control and can be used to compare results with other measurement systems.
