Restored grasslands reveal dynamic soil fungi communities on Loess Plateau
The study looked at how soil fungi change over time in restored grasslands on the Loess Plateau in China. By using high-tech sequencing, researchers found that as the grasslands got older, the types of fungi living in the soil changed. The top layer of soil had different fungi than the deeper layer, and these differences decreased over time. The nutrients in the soil influenced which fungi were present. Overall, the study showed that soil fungi in restored grasslands change both over time and across different parts of the landscape.
