Libya's Waste Pond Simulation Successfully Removes E. Coli, Ensuring Safe Agriculture
The study aimed to see if waste stabilization ponds in Libya could effectively remove harmful E. Coli bacteria from wastewater, making it safe for agricultural use. By using computer simulations, the researchers found that the ponds could reduce E. Coli levels by 99.999%, meeting WHO guidelines for safe water use. The process took about 89 days in total, passing through different types of ponds. The initial E. Coli count of 156.732 million per 100ml dropped to just 10 per 100ml in the effluent, showing a significant reduction in bacteria levels.
