Chennai Wetland Shrinks as Dump Yard Area Increases, Endangering Biodiversity.
The Chennai-Pallikaranai Wetland is facing serious problems due to urbanization and industrialization, leading to a decline in biodiversity and natural resources. By using satellite images and remote sensing technology, researchers tracked changes in the wetland from 2008 to 2018. They found a significant increase in the area used as a dump yard, indicating a negative impact on the wetland's water surface area. This study aims to help identify ways to restore the environment and protect endangered species in the wetland.
