Yellow River Delta Coastline Rapidly Changing, Threatening Coastal Communities.
The Yellow River Delta coastline in China has changed a lot from 1976 to 2014. Using satellite images, scientists found that erosion and accretion processes have shaped the coastline. The Diaokouhe channel has mainly eroded inland, while the Qingshuigou course has expanded seaward. The southern part of the river mouth shrank due to a shift in the river mouth, while the northern part extended outward. Factors like river flow, sediment, and human activities influence these changes. Overall, the coastline has been mostly growing in recent years, especially in the northern part.
