New policy developments in Europe set to revolutionize soil erosion control.
New challenges and policy developments in Europe have created opportunities for soil scientists and erosion modellers to improve assessments and solutions for reducing soil erosion. The focus is on reaching Zero Net Land Degradation targets by 2030. The special issue covers topics like using fallout to estimate erosion, new wind erosion models, extreme events' impact on erosion, and management practices in vineyards. Updated methods for estimating soil erodibility, sediment distribution models, and the WaTEM/SEDEM model in Europe are also discussed. Field surveys like LUCAS topsoil and remote sensing data are aiding erosion modellers. Integration with other soil disciplines and Earth Systems modelling is key for developing new erosion process models.
