Constant CFC-11 Levels Threaten Future Ozone Layer, Polar Regions at Risk
The study looked at the impact of keeping CFC-11 levels constant on the ozone layer. They found that if CFC-11 levels remain the same, there could be a significant decrease in ozone in polar regions by the 2040s. This decrease is mainly due to increased chlorine in the lower stratosphere. However, in the upper stratosphere, other processes may help offset some of the ozone loss caused by chlorine.
