New facade design slashes heating costs by 40% in cold regions!
Passive solar buildings can be more comfortable and save energy with a new type of facade called a hybrid heat collecting facade (HHCF). This study used a heat transfer model to show that HHCF can reduce heating needs by 40.2% compared to traditional solar windows and 21.5% compared to Trombe walls in cold regions. The key factors affecting HHCF performance are the window schedule, wall width, wall absorptivity, and the inner double-glass window. This research helps design and optimize HHCF for passive solar buildings.
