New methods reveal how water influx impacts gas reservoir development.
Aquifers in gas reservoirs can affect gas well production. Water can enter the reservoir when pressure drops, changing production. Three methods were used to study aquifer influx: Blasingame, FMB, and MBE. By analyzing gas well production data, researchers identified three influx periods: no-aquifer, early-aquifer, and middle-late-aquifer. The methods accurately determined aquifer influx and rate, helping in gas field development with aquifer support.
