Uzbekistan Doubles Farm Sizes, Reshaping Agriculture and Livelihoods
Uzbekistan is making changes to how farms are organized to make better use of land for growing wheat and cotton. They want to increase farm sizes and make sure land goes to farmers who can use it efficiently. In the past, the country has restructured farms multiple times, moving away from big, state-controlled farms to smaller, divided ones, and then combining them back into larger units. Now, they are aiming to double the size of cotton and wheat farms to around 100 hectares on average. The government is trying to find the best way to manage farmland and improve crop rotations for better production.
