Yellow River Delta coastline eroding rapidly, threatening regional stability and ecosystems.
The Yellow River Delta coastline has been changing due to climate change and human activities. Using remote sensing technology, researchers studied erosion and recovery in the Diaokou River and sedimentation in the Qingshuigou River. They found that the sand mouth in the Diaokou River eroded by 2.826 km2 and silted by 3.156 km2, with a net siltation area of 0.33 km2. The western bank eroded more, while the eastern bank silted. In the Qingshuigou River, the land area increased by 300 km2, with an average sedimentation rate of 7.56 km2yr-1. These findings can help with wetland ecological construction and management in the Yellow River Delta.
