The article examines the metropolitan system in Italy to see if the 15 metropolitan cities are relevant on a national and international scale. It looks at the research background, the significance of these cities globally, and the main factors that affect them. By using indicators and statistical analysis, the study shows that the 15 cities are too many to be considered metropolitan areas.
