New model accurately predicts lake eutrophication levels, aiding pollution control.
Lake eutrophication is a global water pollution issue. This study used a new model to analyze factors like Chlorophyll-a, nitrogen, phosphorus, oxygen demand, and water clarity in lakes. By studying three lakes in China, the model accurately predicted their eutrophication levels. The study found that clear lakes with low nutrients can be monitored using water clarity, while murky lakes with high nutrients are affected by nitrogen and phosphorus levels.
