Revolutionary Flotation Process Turns Waste Coal into Profitable Clean Energy.
Researchers developed a new method to extract clean coal from fine waste coking coal (FWCC) with high ash content. They used spiral separation, grinding, and flotation processes to achieve this. By optimizing the conditions, they were able to obtain 46.28% clean coal with low ash content and remove 53.72% of high-ash materials. The grinding time affected the yield of clean coal, with the best results obtained between 3.5 and 5 minutes. This new approach could lead to an extra profit of $11.846 million per year for the company and shows that processing FWCC can be reliable, economical, and beneficial for the coking coal industry.
